Practical Valentine’s Chores: ODO 175

It’s Valentine’s Day! For some it’s a time to get romantic and maybe shower your significant other with gifts. For me, it’s kinda complicated. First off I have no clue what to get my wife. All of the standard gifts either wont work or are too expensive. That and I’m just too financially practical to justify spending the money for a lot of things.

Then I get into my kids’ outright refusal to clean their bedrooms, even to the point of doing other chores that they aren’t responsible for, just so they don’t have to do the ones that they are.

Finally, another founding member of the Podfix network has announced their ending. We’re saying goodbye to “Weird With You.”

Robot Sharks and Ceiling Fans: ODO 173

This week, I decided to flex my daddy DIY skills and install a few ceiling fans in the house. Unfortunately I’ve never actually done it before, and my arms are sore AF. Ironically, while I’m being so productive in one way, I’m also being lazy because we just bought a robot vacuum. And I give some updates on some changes coming to the show.

Moving Break Over, Welcome to 2020!! ODO 171

After a completely unintended hiatus, I’m back! Welcome to 2020!! I’ve got an update on the move to our new home. I give a kind of loose tour of what’s kept me away. There’s some excitement over my new office. And I give some insight into what I want to do with the show and more in 2020.

We Are A Bunch Of Narcissists w/ Kate Wallinga: ODO 168

It’s that time again. Where I have one of my podcaster friends on to talk about whatever comes up. This month it’s Kate Wallinga from “Ignorance Was Bliss” and “Lifeworld.” Except this time she was invited to be part of November’s National Podcast Post Month interviews. After editing down that episode, all the stuff “left on the cutting room floor” was just too good to throw away, and made for a pretty good episode itself. Of course, we talk podcasting, but also about the relationships we’ve formed from the podcast community, and the psychological side of why we do this crazy thing called podcasting. In a nutshell, “we’re all narcissists.”

A Sick Dog, R. Kelly, A Girl, And Her Horror: ODO 165

Geeze I’m busy this week. With all of the preparing for NAPODPOMO I almost forgot I still needed to do a regular episode. On top of that, our dog has been sick and I’ve been having to take him back and forth to his vet with no answers yet. In the news: I’ve got a guy who likes to scam scammers, a stupid woman who should have been eaten, and R. Kelly reaffirming that he’s not only a douchebag, but also a jackass. Finally in Recommended Listening, I’m gonna try to keep it creepy for October with this week’s feature: “A Girl And Her Horror.”

Podcasting Is A Bob Ross Painting w/ Derek Graziano: ODO 164

Although he has appeared on the show before, Derek had yet to be my esteemed “Guest of the Month” so I needed to fix that. Because we’re both nerds, we talk about video games. And, because we’re both podcasters, we talk podcasting and how Derek has checked off a lot of podcast category boxes. He’s done a gaming news show, an actual play tabletop game which shifted into an improvised audio drama, and now he’s dipping his toes into True Crime with his new project “Lifeworld.”

The Rise Of Neck Tattoos: ODO 163

Kind of an uneventful week I guess. We went to the first food truck event of the season, (now that the sun wont cook all the vendors inside their trucks.) I give an update on my whole “being sick” thing. No news theme this week, just stupidity. There’s a guy who got fired over his attendance record, an idiot who tried to fight a grizzly bear, and an unplanned rant inspired by Moby’s new neck tattoo. Lastly, in Recommended Listening, we’re exploring the New Kingdom of America with “The Rise of King Asilas.

Nerds, Comedy, and Sports Injuries w/ Adam Nutter

It’s that time again. Time for someone to invite somebody on for a conversation that can only be had with my scrambled brain. This month I have, from Nerds With Words and Drop Tent Media, Adam Nutter. We spend a ton of time talking about comedy. Whether it’s standup comedians or comedy films, we’ve got opinions. Somehow we end up talking sports, and how at our age, we both suck. Plus tons of tangents and randomness because, frankly, we both have brain damage. Enjoy!

Live From “Betty” w/ Lisa and Sam: ODO 141

Guest Time!

The March Guests Of The Month are Lisa and Sam from I Shake My Head with Lisa and Sam.
Like all of my guests, we talk a little about podcasting, how they do their show, our pod-friends, and how we became friends in the first place.
In classic Lisa and Sam fashion, we geek out over donuts, spring training baseball, we get into Lisa’s hangups about food, and I make a case for why I should be their designated “Merican,” or at least their “Mexcan-Merican.” As always, tangents abound. For their podcast recommendation they suggest a fellow Canadian podcast, “Nooks and Crannies.”

I Shake My Head w/ Lisa and Sam

I Shake My Head with Lisa and Sam

“I Shake My Head” follows the decades long friendship of two goofy women from Saskatoon who find themselves having some of their best conversations in the car! Yes, they actually record in Sam’s car, “Betty.” It’s not especially deep, or political. But, they don’t want to make you think. They just want to make you laugh and be the least stressful part of your day.

*PATREON EXTENDED VERSION*

Extended cut includes chats about our ages, the fact that we’ve never had a real conversation before, mix tapes, getting into the zone, and Sam’s bladder.
