For Ep 11 of NAPODPOMO, it’s Follow Friday (#FF) on Twitter and that makes it the perfect time for a Recommended Listening. In honor of National Podcast Post Month, I’m sharing the NAPODPOMO show created by podcast buddy Paul Csomo. We’re “Checkin’ In With Csomo.“(more…)
It’s day 6 of NAPODPOMO, and I’ll just cut right to the chase. The reason I didn’t release an episode on Monday the 4th was because last week we began the process of buying a home. After a post-Halloween visit to a new housing community going up nearby, my wife made the executive decision to pull the trigger on attempting to buy our first house. So now, we’re all sorts of busy.(more…)
Day 5 of NAPODPOMO brings us to The News…
It’s Day 5 of NAPOPOMO and it’s time for some “BS From The News:”
(Trigger warning pssshhh: I use a looootttt of F-bombs in this rant. You’re welcome.)
A Maryland man was stabbed to death during an argument outside a Popeye’s restaurant. A large line had formed of people wanting to get the, now infamous, Popeye’s chicken sandwich. Apparently the argument began over somebody cutting in line and escalated to the point of one man stabbing another. Authorities attempted life saving measures, but the man later died at a local hospital.(more…)
It’s that time again. Where I have one of my podcaster friends on to talk about whatever comes up. This month it’s Kate Wallinga from “Ignorance Was Bliss” and “Lifeworld.” Except this time she was invited to be part of November’s National Podcast Post Month interviews. After editing down that episode, all the stuff “left on the cutting room floor” was just too good to throw away, and made for a pretty good episode itself. Of course, we talk podcasting, but also about the relationships we’ve formed from the podcast community, and the psychological side of why we do this crazy thing called podcasting. In a nutshell, “we’re all narcissists.”
Geeze I’m busy this week. With all of the preparing for NAPODPOMO I almost forgot I still needed to do a regular episode. On top of that, our dog has been sick and I’ve been having to take him back and forth to his vet with no answers yet. In the news: I’ve got a guy who likes to scam scammers, a stupid woman who should have been eaten, and R. Kelly reaffirming that he’s not only a douchebag, but also a jackass. Finally in Recommended Listening, I’m gonna try to keep it creepy for October with this week’s feature: “A Girl And Her Horror.”
Although he has appeared on the show before, Derek had yet to be my esteemed “Guest of the Month” so I needed to fix that. Because we’re both nerds, we talk about video games. And, because we’re both podcasters, we talk podcasting and how Derek has checked off a lot of podcast category boxes. He’s done a gaming news show, an actual play tabletop game which shifted into an improvised audio drama, and now he’s dipping his toes into True Crime with his new project “Lifeworld.”
Kind of an uneventful week I guess. We went to the first food truck event of the season, (now that the sun wont cook all the vendors inside their trucks.) I give an update on my whole “being sick” thing. No news theme this week, just stupidity. There’s a guy who got fired over his attendance record, an idiot who tried to fight a grizzly bear, and an unplanned rant inspired by Moby’s new neck tattoo. Lastly, in Recommended Listening, we’re exploring the New Kingdom of America with “The Rise of King Asilas.“
It’s that time again. Time for someone to invite somebody on for a conversation that can only be had with my scrambled brain. This month I have, from Nerds With Words and Drop Tent Media, Adam Nutter. We spend a ton of time talking about comedy. Whether it’s standup comedians or comedy films, we’ve got opinions. Somehow we end up talking sports, and how at our age, we both suck. Plus tons of tangents and randomness because, frankly, we both have brain damage. Enjoy!
For July my guest of the month is the ever wonderful Paul Csomo from the Varmints podcast. Unlike his previous appearance, this time we actually ended up talking about animals quite a bit. Of course there’s also the obligatory podcasting and tech talk. We talk about what it’s like living in states with such dangerous wildlife. Somehow we solve Florida’s invasive species problem. Plus, we joke about Paul’s experience eating bugs, and the difference between animal rights activists and conservationists, with a side track into Paul’s Funko Pop collection.
