Kicking Butts and Smoking Chickens: ODO 232

It’s been a busy couple weeks and you know I’ve gotta tell you about it. First off, the boys had a taekwondo tournament a few weeks ago. And, despite not coming home with nearly as many medals as some other recent tournaments, we were more proud of them all than probably any other tournament day before strictly becasue of their great attitudes.

Then, watch out, a new “man hobby” has entered the field in the form of smoking meats. We have purchased a smoker, and I got to cook up my very first batch of smoked chicken this last weekend. A lot of lessons were learned, but the food was nevertheless amazing.

Monsoons, Medals, and Old House Memories: ODO 223

I’m somewhat disappointed in you this week. I thought I told you to harass me about getting an episode out on time. It’s ok. My first story explains why it didn’t happen.

After the topic of my truck dying leads to a longer than expected chat about the weather, namely the recent monsoon storms. One Long Trip To The Hospital: ODO 216

No news this week. Just telling the long complicated story of how my son broke his arm this week and the days long process of getting him patched up. From a tumble in taekwondo class, to visiting two separate emergency rooms, to finally needing surgery to get everything put back together, it was a very long couple of days.

Sorry If I Broke Your Brain: ODO 207

I don’t even know what happened this week.
I started out talking about my boys being in Summer school and playing games. I sidetracked into playing sports in school when I was a kid. Veered into teaching my boys taekwondo. I also taught them about how mosquitos spread malaria via a very odd ice cream metaphor. I realized that beyond potty training, nobody teaches you squat about parenting. And I think I landed on an existential crisis. I’m sorry if I broke your brain trying to follow this.
